      Lamps and Fixtures

TheraBulb incandescent infrared light bulbs and red light bulbs require lamps and fixtures rated for higher wattage than standard household lamps. Whether you're looking for a portable infrared heat lamp or mounted fixture, understanding compatibility ensures safe operation and optimal performance.

The lamp or fixture must be rated for at least the wattage of your bulb. Most household lamps are rated for only 100W maximum, making them incompatible with TheraBulb's 150W, 250W, and 300W infrared heat lamp bulbs. Check the wattage rating stamped on the lamp cord, socket, or fixture sticker.

      Why Wattage Ratings Matter

Exceeding the wattage rating can cause a variety of problems, including:

      • brittle or cracked insulation on internal wires
      • electrical shorts
      • fire hazard
      • shortened bulb life
      • softened or melted socket
      • tripping the circuit breaker / blowing a fuse
